What does a Fuel Injector do? Welcome to Mercie J, where compassion and craftsmanship come together, I'm Rick Smith.
Now an engine, in order to function, we compress a mixture of air and fuel. Sometimes we compress only air and then we put the fuel in. We compress this volume of air and this air/fuel mixture, then a spark plug on a gasoline engine ignites it. That's what gives us the power going down the road.
Most of the time we're going to have a check engine light, that's one of the symptoms. Sometimes we can have some surging and sometimes we can have a scenario where we start the engine and then it's stalls, we start it and then it stalls. It won't stay running.
So in most cases yes you can. The check engine will typically be on, the car probably won't perform as well and your fuel economy will be much lower. So it's wise to get it fixed no matter what.
