Criticized for using checklists - here is why they are important!

So here's the deal with checklists, they're made so we don't make mistakes. There's a fantastic book that I recommend everybody read it's called the checklist Manifesto. The reason Pilots use checklists is because it reduces the amount of airplane crashes. The reason surgeons use checklists is because it reduces the amount of deaths in the operating room.

So checklists are actually more and more vital the more advanced and the more complex the procedure is. So nobody's expected to necessarily memorize them but they are expected to follow them verbatim to reduce problems.
