So in most cases yes you can. The check engine will typically be on, the car probably won't perform as well and your fuel economy will be much lower. So it's wise to get it fixed no matter what.

In some cases, the car won't run it all. So depending on the car, for example, I had one scenario where a car was broke down and wouldn't run because the sensor was bad. I unplugged the sensor so the computer couldn't see it at all, and then the car ran and it allowed us to get it out of an emergency situation and get it home. In some cases, they need to be cleaned. There's a number of different things that can happen.
