What does a Fuel Injector do? Welcome to Mercie J, where compassion and craftsmanship come together, I'm Rick Smith.

Now an engine, in order to function, we compress a mixture of air and fuel. Sometimes we compress only air and then we put the fuel in. We compress this volume of air and this air/fuel mixture, then a spark plug on a gasoline engine ignites it. That's what gives us the power going down the road.

So we have to get the fuel in there somehow so an injector, the best way I can describe it, it's like a sprinkler. So it opens and it sprays some fuel into either an intake port or directly into the cylinder depending on how much it needs. So, simple explanation and injector is basically a sprinkler squirting fuel into your engine.
