How Can I Test My Car Battery Without a Meter?

Is there any way, or how can I test my car battery without a meter? Welcome to Mercie J where compassion and craftsmanship come together. I'm Rick Smith.

So there is really no accurate way to test your battery without a meter, but I do have a little bit of a… kind of a seat of the pants test to see if your battery is actually strong. The rest of your vehicle has to be healthy in this situation.

And if you do this, I just need to warn you. If your battery is weak, you may need to make sure you have a jump starter available to get the car started afterwards.

So here's one of the things that I like to do right before I'm gonna go on a trip just to make sure I'm not gonna get stuck. I start my car and I shut it off. I start it, shut it off. And I do that about 12 times. Now, if every time I do that, it starts normally, *Rick noise*. Shut it off. *Rick noises again*. Shut it off.

If it sounds good. All the way through all those 12 starts, most likely my battery is pretty healthy. If towards the end say 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, it starts to go, *even more Rick noises*, and then start, my battery's probably weak. Or if it quits starting altogether, my battery's probably weak as well.

So not a totally accurate test but certainly gives you a good idea if your battery is good and strong and healthy. I hope this has been helpful to you, and until next time, safe travels and blessings to you.
