What does it mean if my car is pulling to one side?
What does it mean if my car is pulling to one side? Welcome to Mercie J where compassion and craftsmanship come together, I'm Rick Smith. Now first of all let's clarify what pulling is. You have to ignore the position of the steering wheel. A steering wheel that's off center is not the same as pulling. So regardless of where the steering wheel is, if I let go of the steering wheel and I'm cruising down the road, does my car drift one way or the other?
What does it mean if my car is pulling to one side? Welcome to Mercie J where compassion and craftsmanship come together, I'm Rick Smith. Now first of all let's clarify what pulling is. You have to ignore the position of the steering wheel. A steering wheel that's off center is not the same as pulling. So regardless of where the steering wheel is, if I let go of the steering wheel and I'm cruising down the road, does my car drift one way or the other? That's what we would classify as a pull. Now a lot of times it has nothing to do with the car itself, but it has to do with the tires. So one of the first things that we like to do to diagnose a pull is we take the two front tires and switch them side to side. If the pull goes the opposite way you know it's a tire issue. Otherwise now we have to put it on an alignment machine and check the angles to see why it may be pulling because one of the angles may be off. Also make sure that your tire pressure is even all the way around and that your tires match because anything creating friction on the road can cause the car to go one way or the other. I hope this answers your question and until next time, safe travels and blessings to you.
