What is a Transfer Case?

Now on a four wheel drive or an all wheel drive vehicle in the drivetrain, some vehicles have a transfer case. That’s transferring the power from the transmission to both sets of wheels. So on some four wheel drives you can turn that on and off, so sometimes you’re only running on maybe the rear wheels and then, when you turn it on you transfer the power to both front and rear.

Transfer cases have gears in them so they should be have that fluid changed periodically to protect it and make it last longer. I hope this answer your question, until next time safe travels and blessings to you.
