How does a turbo charger work? Well basically what a turbo charger is trying to do is just trying to blow air into the engine so that the piston when it comes down, doesn’t have to suck as hard to pull it in and you increase horsepower by doing that.

Well basically what a turbo charger is trying to do is just trying to blow air into the engine so that the piston when it comes down, doesn’t have to suck as hard to pull it in and you increase horsepower by doing that. The way that works is imagine if you have two fans and you have them hooked together and you blow on one fan and you spin it, then the other fans is going to spin and blow air as well, right. So what we have on a turbo charger is on the exhaust side we have a fan, don’t know if you can see it very well in there OK. So what happens is the exhaust comes in goes over that fan and the combination of the exhaust flow plus the heat which expands things starts to spin that fan really fast, super fast. So on the other side, it’s attached to another impeller or fan and that’s on our intake side. So the air coming out of your air filter goes in there and then it goes into the engine under pressure because of that spinning. That increases what we call volumetric efficiency which we have another video on that which is a very basic explanation of how a turbo charger works. I hope this has been informational to you.
