How does colder weather affect your car?
In our last video we answer the question, “Why does my Tire Pressure Light come on when it gets cold?” so if you have not already, make sure you go watch that video if you have that question. That got us thinking and we want to talk little bit about a couple things that happen to your vehicle when the temperature outside changes and cools down leading into Winter.

That got us thinking and we want to talk little bit about a couple things that happen to your vehicle when the temperature outside changes and cools down leading into Winter. Welcome to Mercie J Auto Care where compassion and craftsmanship come together. I’m Rick Smith, master certified technician. When we have a drop in temperature starting anywhere between October to November here in Arizona, and we go from the fall to the winner, a lot of things on your engine start to shrink. Everything from gasket seals, hoses, plastic and things like that and because of that you can develop all kinds of fluid leaks. We’ve seen everything from radiator fluid, antifreeze, or coolant to engine oil leaks, transmission leaks, and power steering leaks. There’s nothing you can do to prevent that it’s just because the parts are getting older and they shrink up and then when the temperature warms up sometimes those issues go away. Another thing you might experience is the check engine light can come on in. If that code is a P0 128 code, that’s because your thermostat is just slightly stuck open and it takes a little bit too long for the engine to warm up. It’s nothing to be alarmed by, these are just normal changes as the weather here in the East Valley gets cooler. If you do have a larger leak or concern, feel free to give us a call and bring your vehicle in for a complete digital inspection. I hope you found this informational thanks for watching until next time blessings to you and safe travels.
