How can I save Money on Gas?

How do you get the best fuel economy out of your car. Well we’re going to do our best to help you answer that today. Welcome to Mercie J Auto Care where compassion and craftsmanship come together. I’m Rick Smith, master certified technician, this is my assistant May-Hay who also happens to be my granddaughter. MayHay, I got a question for you. When your mommy drives does she drive fast or slow? Fast? She drives fast. So when your mommy brakes, does she brake real smooth or does your head jerk around. “My head jerks around.” OK so your mom is a wild driver. Do you think your mommy gets good gas mileage or bad gas mileage? “Bad” Yes she probably does because of how she drives. Here’s the deal folks, an object in motion wants to stay in motion and an object that rest wants to stay at rest. Basic physics we all learned years ago. So the way you can get the most out of the fuel of your car is to slowly accelerate and bring it up to speed. That object is wanting to stay at rest and we don’t want to force it to start moving. Second, watch way ahead and let off the gas early and use your brakes as little as possible because if we don’t slow it all the way down then we don’t have to accelerate all the way back up. We will use dramatically less fuel. There’s all kinds of wives tales out there but driving habits are the number one effect on fuel economy. Also if you have a check engine light on get that handled because almost anything that will turn the check engine light on can also affect the fuel economy.
