Why do mechanics hate German cars? First of all let me say all mechanics don't hate German cars. Welcome to Mercie J, where compassion and craftsmanship come together, I'm Rick Smith.

So I think one of the reasons some mechanics get frustrated with European vehicles in general is that because they tend to be a little unique as opposed to the Asian and domestic Vehicles which tend to have very similar repair procedures. So let me just give you a couple of examples.

One is, European Vehicles tend to use a lot of different Fasteners. So it requires a few more different tools to be able to take off bolts and things like that. Secondly, terminology can be different and so it can be a little bit difficult to understand especially when they use different terminology for things like sensors. Whereas, everything else in the Asian or domestic Market would be the same. Wiring diagrams tend to be a little bit different so if you're not used to reading them, they can be a little bit of challenge to read. Sometimes we have to have unique software when we're looking at European Vehicles as well.

Then lastly sometimes it's a little harder to order Parts because there's not as many European vehicles on the road as there are Asian and domestics. I hope this helps you understand a little bit more on where some of the mechanics might be coming and why European vehicles are more complex to work on.
