What does a CV Axle do?

What does a CV axle do?

What does a CV axle do? Welcome to Mercie J auto care where compassion and craftmanship come together. I'm Rick Smith, master certified technician. To motivate the car down the road we need to spin these tires and we do that by having a shaft that we twist to rotate the tire and make the car go down the road. Problem is if we’re trying to twist it on a shaft, but if we want to turn the tire back and forth, then the shaft is no longer straight so we need a joint in there. So right here we have a joint here and this has a rubber boot over it called the CV boot, and CV stand constant velocity which means the whole time it’s turning it could be rotating and that boot keeps the grease in in the dirt out to protect the joint. You also have an inner one, but it doesn’t move as much as the outer. So that’s what a CV axle does, it drives the wheels and allows them to turn and go up and down while it’s driving. I hope this has been informational to you and until next time safe travels and blessings to you.
