Ram Eco Diesel Diagnostics

Today were working on a 2017 ram eco-diesel so I thought I’d share with you what’s going on with it. Welcome to Mercie J auto care where compassion and craftsmanship come together. I'm Rick Smith, master certified technician. Now this particular Ram truck had some issues where the check engine light came on and it also had a lack of power. One of the codes in the in the system was a code for a lack of turbo boost. What this truck has is an EGR cooler. In this cooler, it can direct how much EGR goes through and it can also direct whether the EGR is cooled or not cooled. There’s a little flapper valve there that operates it so I’ll let you see there’s two passages there. You can see a smaller one and a larger one. Ones cooled and on is not. There’s a diaphragm in here that moves a lever and the lever is on this which is the valve, which is the flapper valve not EGR valve. The shaft broke on that so we have to replace this cooler assembly get it all together then we clear all the codes and you’ll have boost again and be rolling down the road.
